Nestled in the wooded areas of Lincoln Marsh, the Challenge Course provides opportunities for group, partner, and personal development where participants stretch beyond perceived limits in an atmosphere of support and respect. Facilitators design fun and enriching experiences that target the goals identified by each group.

What Type Of Group Are We?

Youth/Family
Groups that are high school aged or younger or groups of friends/families that are not associated with an organization. Examples are elementary through high school classes, peer leadership, sports teams, youth at risk, students with special needs, PE leaders, scouts, churches, park districts, birthday parties, and many more.

Colleges, Park District/Teacher Professional Development
Groups from colleges and universities. Adult groups from park districts and schools.

Adult Nonprofit
Organizations that are not intended to make a profit and have 501 status.

Corporate
Organizations that are intended to make a profit.

Teams Course (4th Grade-Adult)

Enable group development through low course initiatives. Begin with icebreakers, move into problem solving, and work towards trust. After a challenge is completed, facilitators provide time for reflection and discussion.

  • 3 hour minimum

Adventure Walk (low ropes): Go through each of the six elements without touching the ground.

Incomplete Bridge

Incomplete Bridge: Get from one platform to the other using two boards.

High Beam

High Beam: Move from one side to the other by climbing over the beam.

Nitro Crossing

Nitro Crossing: Swing from one side to the other using a suspended rope.

Squeeze Box

Squeeze Box: Enter and exit the box by going over the top or underneath.

Spider Web

Electric Fence/Spider Web: Move through the "fence" or “web” without touching the ropes or poles.

Telephone Pole Shuffle

Telephone Pole Shuffle: Members arrange themselves in a particular order without touching the ground.

Whale Watch

Whale Watch: Board the platform and stay balanced for a designated amount of time.

Wobbly Woozy

Wobbly Woozy: Pairs move from the vertex of the triangle to the widest part without touching the ground.

Zig Zag Crossing

Zig Zag Crossing: Use boards to travel across five platforms without touching the ground.

Travel Teams Course (4th Grade-Adult)

Bring the Teams Course to you! All we need is a large meeting space (indoor/outdoor) and we will customize a program to meet your needs.

High Ropes Course (7th Grade-Adult)

Develop partner and personal growth. Review and practice with equipment before being challenged by twelve different elements on our 28-foot high course.

Climbing Tower (1st Grade-Adult)

Scale up our 50-foot high climbing tower. Review risk management procedures and be outfitted with harnesses and helmets before climbing. We offer several different routes from easy to difficult. Extend comfort zones and promote encouragement and coaching.

Power Pole (7th Grade-Adult)

Ascend to the top of our 35-foot high power pole while on a team belay system. Build self-confidence, team support, and trust.

Crate Climbing (4th Grade-Adult)

While on a team belay system, stack and climb up milk crates as high as 25 feet. Push beyond perceived limits during this fun bonding activity.

If you are in need of a facility to host a luncheon to go along with your Lincoln Marsh Challenge Course event, Arrowhead Golf Club provides a variety of accommodations. Packages are available for corporate and social groups from 10 to 300 people. Challenge Course programs can accommodate a maximum of 75 participants at a time.

How do I make a Challenge Course reservation?

  • Decide which of our courses you would like your group to participate in.
  • Choose several dates in the event that your first choice is not available.
  • Contact the Lincoln Marsh Office at 630-871-2810 for additional information and reservations.
  • Reservations should be made at least two weeks in advance; earlier reservations are appreciated and recommended.
  • Programs are held entirely outdoors and are conducted rain or shine except when inclement weather creates unsafe conditions.
  • Reservation information will be emailed to you prior to your program. Review it carefully and call us as soon as possible if anything is incorrect or changes (i.e. number of participants).
